“Standing contaminated wastewater within the pool enclosure.”

He stared in disbelief.

“You just poured it there.”

“No.”

“I watched you.”

“You watched me move a container that was already on your property.”

The homeowner actually laughed.

He could not help it.

The president’s expression sharpened.

“This is funny to you?”

“Yes.”

That seemed to enrage her more.

The homeowner lifted his phone.

“It’s just unbelievably stupid.”

She took a step.

He backed away.

“Don’t.”

“What did you do?”

He opened the security app.

Her face changed.

He tapped the first camera.

Video appeared.

Time stamp.

The HOA president outside the gate.

Carrying the bucket.

Trying the latch.

Looking toward the house.

Then forcing the gate.

The homeowner turned the screen toward her.

She went completely still.

He said:

“You were carrying the bucket before you entered.”

No response.

He swiped.

Second angle.

The camera beneath the pergola had recorded her stepping through the gate.

The bucket was clearly visible.

So were her orange clothes.

So were the gloves.

So was the homeowner emerging from the pool.

He looked toward her.

“You didn’t discover anything.”

Her mouth opened.

Closed.

He continued.

“The camera watched you bring it.”

The HOA president recovered.

“This surveillance is illegal.”

“No.”

“You never obtained HOA approval.”

“I don’t need HOA approval for cameras that remain entirely within my private property boundaries.”

“They record the common path behind the fence.”

“No.”

“The rear camera stops at the fence line.”

“You’re violating residents’ privacy.”

The homeowner stared.

“You forced your way into my locked yard carrying sewage, and your defense is privacy?”

She looked toward the patio roof.

Then she saw the camera.

Her face drained.

“How long has that been there?”

He did not answer.

She turned.

Looked toward the corner of the house.

A second camera.

Then toward the gate.

The small magnetic sensor.

Her breathing changed.

“What did you do?”

The homeowner’s voice became very calm.

“I prepared for you.”

Something about those four words frightened her more than shouting would have.

She moved toward him.

“Give me the phone.”

“No.”

“Give it to me.”

She reached.

He stepped sideways.

She grabbed at his robe sleeve.

It pulled open.

He jerked free.

“Stop touching me.”

The HOA president lunged again.

This time he moved behind the lounge chair, keeping a physical barrier between them.

She kicked the chair.
