But Amara knew the central problem wasn't ordinary simplification.

The summary said the operating company possessed all material rights necessary for the transaction without requiring any outstanding approval.

That claim depended on the trust's consent being obtained or lawfully unnecessary.

Neither had been established.

Faisal turned back toward her.

"How do you know this?"

Amara took a slow breath.

"I reviewed the bilingual agreement before your legal team received the revised summary."

Victor's face became pale.

Celeste stepped forward.

"Amara, perhaps we should—"

Faisal raised his hand.

"Please. Let her finish."

Amara looked toward the manager.

Then continued.

"I also serve as a trustee of the organization named in the original document."

Kessler slammed his palm against the table.

"This is outrageous."

The billionaire didn't turn toward him.

"Sit down, Richard."

Kessler stared.

For a moment, he seemed ready to argue.

Then he sat.

Faisal looked toward Amara again.

"Are you telling me you have authority to speak for the trust?"

She answered carefully.

"I can describe the trust's position and identify the documents. I cannot approve a transaction by myself. The trust has procedures, and the trustees have not authorized this transfer."

Faisal studied her.

He seemed surprised by the restraint.

Perhaps he'd expected her to claim personal ownership of the entire terminal or demand the million dollars he'd offered.

Instead, she was explaining the limits of her authority.

That made her harder to dismiss.

The billionaire's general counsel, a Saudi attorney named Mariam Al-Hassan, had been sitting quietly near the far end of the table.

She was forty-nine, with a composed expression and a reputation for examining documents more carefully than executives liked. She'd joined Crescent Horizon six years earlier and helped the investment group manage international acquisitions.

Throughout the dinner, she'd allowed outside counsel to present the transaction.

Now she spoke.

"Mr. Chairman, I recommend we suspend the signing process until the underlying title and consent provisions are verified."

Kessler immediately objected.

"The financing commitment expires at midnight."

Mariam looked toward him.

"Then we may need to renegotiate the timing."

Victor leaned forward.

"There's no evidence that the transaction is defective."

Amara heard the lawyer's careful wording.

No evidence.

As though the recorded deed, original bilingual agreement, and formal trust notices didn't exist.

Mariam opened her laptop.

"Then we should be able to reconcile the documents."

Faisal nodded.

He looked toward Amara.

"Can you obtain the original agreement?"

She hesitated.

"I can direct your counsel to the trust's authorized representative and the records we hold. The registered property information can also be verified independently."
