Beyond the workshop floor was a short corridor.

At the end, an old steel storage door.

Rust around the hinges.

Paint flaking.

Small metal plate.

Cole whispered:

“Storage locker.”

Sarah followed his eyes.

“No.”

Cole nodded.

“Michael rented it.”

“When?”

“Years before Noah was born.”

“What for?”

“No idea.”

“He paid cash.”

“We used it for club stuff sometimes.”

“Parts.”

“Boxes.”

“Then Michael started keeping it locked.”

The bald biker said:

“After the warehouse job.”

Cole looked sharply at him.

“Don’t.”

Sarah caught it.

“What warehouse job?”

The bald biker looked away.

Sarah stepped closer.

“What did my husband do?”

Cole said:

“He helped us.”

“With what?”

Cole hesitated.

Sarah’s voice hardened.

“No more half-answers.”

Cole looked at Noah.

Then at her.

“Michael worked logistics.”

“I know.”

“He handled high-value freight contracts.”

“Yes.”

“He discovered somebody was using a shipping company to move stolen motorcycle parts.”

Sarah stared.

“What?”

“Engines.”

“Frames.”

“VIN plates.”

“Sometimes whole bikes.”

“He figured out which warehouse was feeding them into legitimate freight.”

“Why would Michael get involved?”

“Because one of our bikes showed up in the network.”

Cole touched the Iron Wolves patch.

“One of ours was stolen.”

“We thought local thieves.”

“Michael traced paperwork.”

Sarah’s mind reeled.

“He never told me any of this.”

“He wanted you away from it.”

The bald biker added:

“He found something bigger.”

Cole shot him a warning look.

Sarah noticed.

“What?”

The bald biker looked toward her.

“Insurance fraud.”

Cole exhaled.

The secret was breaking open whether he wanted it to or not.

The bald man continued.

“Fake theft claims.”

“Rebuilt vehicles.”

Stolen bikes stripped and replaced with legal components.

“People making serious money.”

Sarah stared toward locker 214.

“And Daniel?”

Silence.

Sarah looked at Cole.

“Daniel was involved.”

Cole said nothing.

That was answer enough.

Noah whispered:

“Uncle Daniel?”

Sarah closed her eyes.

Cole said:

“We didn’t know then.”

“When did you know?”

“After Michael disappeared.”

“How?”

“Daniel came here too fast.”

“What does that mean?”

“He knew about the bell.”

Sarah looked at the tiny brass piece.

“How?”

Cole’s voice lowered.

“He asked me whether Michael left anything with me.”

“I said no.”

“He specifically asked about jewelry.”

“Keys.”

“Something small.”

“He didn’t say bell.”

“But I knew.”

Sarah felt cold despite the warm garage.

“What did you tell him?”

“Nothing.”

“Why?”

“Because Michael was scared of somebody.”

“And Daniel looked relieved when I said he’d left nothing.”

The bald biker said:
