Cynthia looked toward Sofia.

"Give her the online instructions."

The receptionist hesitated.

"But we have an associate available at—"

Cynthia interrupted.

"Miss Morales."

Sofia stopped.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Cynthia turned back toward Amelia.

"You can submit your request through our website."

Amelia looked at the screen.

Then at Cynthia.

"May I speak with the branch manager?"

Cynthia gave a small, irritated smile.

"He's busy."

"I'd still like to request a conversation."

Cynthia sighed.

She glanced toward the clock.

8:44.

Then walked away.

Sofia looked embarrassed.

"I'm sorry about that."

Amelia studied her.

"You were following the standard intake process, weren't you?"

The young woman hesitated.

Then nodded.

"Yes."

Amelia smiled gently.

"Thank you."

For a moment, Sofia looked relieved.

Then Keller emerged from his office.

The confrontation escalated almost immediately.

Keller approached with the impatient expression of a man who had already decided the conversation was an inconvenience.

He asked whether Amelia maintained a qualifying relationship with the bank.

She explained that she had a genuine account and wanted information about an additional service.

He demanded to see her card.

She handed it over.

He looked at the name.

Then at the card.

Then at her outfit.

For a moment, he seemed amused.

"Dr. Washington?"

"Yes."

"What kind of doctor?"

Amelia looked at him.

"I have a doctorate in economics."

Keller laughed.

"Of course you do."

She studied his face.

"What does my academic title have to do with the account request?"

He shrugged.

"Just making conversation."

Then he glanced toward the card again.

He hadn't verified the account.

He hadn't requested the foundation documents.

And he hadn't explained any specific eligibility requirement.

Instead, he asked whether Amelia was capable of maintaining the kind of balance his branch expected.

She looked directly at him.

"Would you like to examine the account information before making that assumption?"

Keller's expression hardened.

"Don't get clever with me."

He walked toward the reception counter.

Amelia followed calmly.

Several customers began watching.

Cynthia stood nearby with her arms folded.

Sofia looked increasingly uncomfortable.

Keller placed the card on the counter, then pushed it back with unnecessary force.

Amelia reached toward it.

He moved it again.

This time, the card slid past the edge and fell onto the marble floor.

Keller laughed.

And the confrontation became the one that would later be captured in a customer's video.

The manager told Amelia that the branch served qualified clients only.

He suggested she take her business elsewhere.
