Rachel nodded.
“I hope they take it seriously.”
“So do I.”
Peter folded his newspaper.
“You shouldn’t have had to deal with that.”
Elena gave him a small, tired smile.
“No one should.”
The incident report took shape while the aircraft remained at the gate.
Daniel collected statements from the crew members who had witnessed the confrontation. He recorded the approximate time of the slap, the shove, the displacement of Elena’s belongings, the passenger’s refusal to follow instructions, and the decision to remove her from the aircraft.
Maya wrote her own account, distinguishing what she had directly observed from what she had heard afterward. She described the boarding conditions, the passenger’s repeated complaints, and the moment the confrontation escalated.
Daniel made sure she did not copy his wording.
Each person needed to provide an independent account.
The airline’s ground representative arrived at the aircraft door and confirmed that Morgan had been escorted to a designated customer-service area. Airport personnel were aware of the incident, and the airline was coordinating the next steps under its established policies.
Daniel asked Rachel whether she was willing to preserve her recording and provide it through the proper channel.
“Yes,” she said. “I don’t want it circulating online. I just want the facts available.”
“That’s appropriate,” Daniel replied.
Elena heard the exchange and approved.
A video posted without context could become entertainment, a weapon, or a distraction. The original recording was evidence. It should be handled carefully, with attention to privacy and the integrity of the record.
She made a note to include the existence of the recording in her documentation, without assuming its contents would automatically resolve every factual question.
Then she returned to the assignment folder.
The flight had not yet departed, but her inspection was already underway.
In the terminal, Morgan Whitaker was pacing in a private customer-service room.
Her anger had changed shape. At first, she had been furious that the crew had challenged her. Now she was alarmed that the incident might affect her reputation.
She had called her assistant twice.
The first call had gone unanswered.
The second had reached voicemail.
She called her husband, who answered after several rings.
“What happened?” he asked.
“They removed me from the flight.”
“What?”
“Some woman decided to make a scene, and the crew took her side.”
“Why did they remove you?”
Morgan paused.
“She was disrespectful.”
“That doesn’t explain it.”
“She provoked me.”
“Did you hit her?”
Morgan stared at the glass wall of the room.
“She wouldn’t stop talking.”
A silence followed.
“Did you hit her?” he repeated.
Morgan’s voice sharpened.
“I slapped her. It wasn’t a big deal.”
