The billionaire reached for his phone.

He glanced at the screen.

Then turned it facedown.

For the first time since entering the restaurant, the expensive suit, polished smile, and commanding posture seemed unable to protect him from the reality unfolding at his own table.

He looked toward the waitress.

“I think there's been a misunderstanding.”

Her expression remained calm.

“Then let's clarify it.”

He straightened.

“Private business conversations can be taken out of context.”

She nodded.

“That's true.”

His confidence returned slightly.

She continued.

“Which is why I have no intention of relying on a single sentence.”

The billionaire's smile faded again.

The daughter looked toward the legal consultant.

“Your office circulated a shareholder authorization bearing my signature. Can you identify the document from which that signature was taken?”

The consultant froze.

His eyes moved toward the billionaire.

Then toward the folder.

He opened his mouth.

No words came.

The billionaire intervened.

“This isn't an appropriate setting for legal questions.”

The daughter considered that.

“You chose to discuss the transaction here.”

He leaned forward.

“With investors. Privately.”

She looked around the table.

“While a server stood beside you.”

The billionaire's jaw tightened.

She continued.

“You assumed I couldn't understand you.”

He said nothing.

“And you assumed that even if I could, my presence wouldn't matter.”

One of the businessmen lowered his eyes.

The developer shifted uncomfortably.

The daughter turned toward him.

“Your development company is the proposed buyer, correct?”

He hesitated.

“I'm involved in the transaction.”

“In what capacity?”

“Strategic development.”

She nodded.

“And who owns the company?”

The developer looked toward the billionaire.

The daughter waited.

Finally, the man answered.

“It's privately held.”

“By whom?”

He gave a strained smile.

“That information is confidential.”

The daughter nodded.

“Then I'm sure your attorney can provide the ownership disclosures through the appropriate process.”

The developer stopped smiling.

The billionaire looked toward the restaurant entrance.

Two staff members were standing nearby.

He raised one hand sharply.

“Manager!”

The restaurant manager approached.

“Yes, sir?”

The billionaire pointed toward the daughter.

“This woman has been pretending to be a waitress while interfering in a private corporate matter.”

The manager looked toward the daughter.

Then back at him.

“She's authorized to work this service assignment.”

The billionaire stared.

“You knew?”

The manager remained professional.

“I knew she was an authorized member of tonight's service team.”

He leaned forward.

“Then you should have warned me.”

The manager's expression did not change.

“Warned you about what, sir?”

The question silenced him.
