Kevin reviewed the governing documents and helped explain the process for a special homeowners' meeting.

The directors consulted counsel to ensure the necessary notices, voting procedures, and requirements were followed.

They didn't want a meeting driven by rumors.

They wanted homeowners to understand what the association had authorized, what was still disputed, and what decisions could lawfully be made.

Pamela received notice.

She was given an opportunity to respond to the concerns raised about her conduct.

For several days, she considered resigning.

But Dylan urged her to fight.

"They're making you look like a criminal," he complained.

Pamela looked toward him.

For the first time, she didn't immediately agree.

"Dylan, some of these documents came from your business."

He stared.

"You helped me!"

She nodded slowly.

"Yes."

For several seconds, she looked exhausted.

Then said something he hadn't expected.

"And helping you doesn't mean what we did was right."

The special homeowners' meeting took place in the community clubhouse on a Tuesday evening.

More than a hundred residents attended in person or through the procedures permitted by the governing documents. Chairs filled the main room, and additional homeowners stood near the back while the association's attorney explained the meeting's purpose.

Isaiah sat beside Arthur.

He wore a simple dark-blue polo shirt and jeans.

His bright Minions shorts were at home.

Arthur glanced toward him.

"No cartoon pants tonight?"

Isaiah smiled.

"Figured I'd give everybody a break."

The older man laughed quietly.

Then the meeting began.

Rosa presented a factual summary of the independent review.

She explained that several payments connected to the heritage event lacked adequate approval records. She described the association's efforts to establish whether notices and vehicle-removal requests were properly authorized.

She didn't announce criminal guilt.

That wasn't the board's role.

Instead, she explained what the records established and which matters remained under investigation.

Kevin discussed the minutes and the absence of a formal decision authorizing removal of Isaiah's Mustang.

The attorney outlined the applicable procedures for addressing the president's position and future association governance.

Then Pamela was given an opportunity to speak.

She walked toward the front wearing a pale-pink blazer and black trousers.

Her hair was styled perfectly.

But the confidence she'd displayed in Isaiah's driveway was gone.

For several seconds, she looked toward the residents.

Then she began.

"I've served this neighborhood because I care about protecting our homes."

A few people nodded.

She continued.

"I organized events, addressed maintenance concerns, and spent countless unpaid hours trying to improve our community."
