He'd never paid much attention to it.
Now he realized it might be central to the unexplained water movement.
Hannah forwarded the records to the relevant professionals.
She also requested preservation of documents connected to Bluehaven's work.
Then she advised Luke to avoid further confrontation with Celeste until the technical assessment was complete.
He agreed.
He'd spent months arguing about who had the right to use his pool.
Now he was worried that someone had physically altered the equipment beneath it.
And he wanted the evidence preserved before anybody could conceal the changes.
A new problem emerged three days before the planned dye assessment.
Luke found a man near his side gate carrying a toolbox.
The stranger wore a work shirt bearing the Bluehaven Aquatic Services logo.
Luke approached.
"Can I help you?"
The man looked surprised.
"I'm here to inspect the auxiliary connection."
Luke stopped.
"Who sent you?"
"Community maintenance."
"This is my private property."
The technician glanced toward the equipment enclosure.
He seemed uncomfortable.
"I was told the HOA had an access agreement."
Luke took a slow breath.
"Can you show me the work order?"
The man checked his phone.
The order described maintenance of a shared water-supply line.
Luke asked whether it identified the equipment as part of his residential swimming pool.
The technician hesitated.
Then admitted that it didn't.
Luke remained polite.
"I'm not authorizing access today. There's a disputed property and equipment issue, and my attorney is handling it."
The technician nodded.
He wasn't looking for a confrontation.
After speaking with his supervisor, he left without performing work.
Luke documented the visit.
Then called Hannah.
She listened.
For several seconds, she was quiet.
Finally, she said, "The timing is concerning."
Luke agreed.
The company had performed the earlier fountain work.
Now someone wanted to inspect the auxiliary connection just before Luke's own specialists examined it.
That didn't prove an attempt to conceal anything.
But it made preserving the equipment's condition especially important.
The night before the inspection, Luke received an anonymous email.
It contained only three sentences.
Check the wellness invoices.
The fountain wasn't repaired the way the board was told.
Don't let anyone change the plumbing before your inspection.
Luke stared at the screen.
There was no signature.
No explanation.
And no supporting attachment.
He couldn't know whether the sender was reliable.
