He used the camera's event-saving function and contacted the association manager.

There was no immediate answer.

He left a message.

Then he called Elaine.

The treasurer sounded horrified.

"She's there?"

"With guests."

Elaine swore softly.

Then apologized.

"Anthony, we told her the event wasn't authorized."

He stared at the screen.

"I know."

She promised to contact the association attorney and Victoria directly.

Anthony thanked her.

Then he prepared to go downstairs.

Before he reached the staircase, another camera alert appeared.

Victoria was standing beside the pool.

She looked toward the house.

Then opened her tote bag.

Anthony watched her remove a small container decorated with a colorful label.

He didn't recognize the brand.

But the product appeared to be something she'd brought for the party.

She held it up for the guests.

Several people laughed.

Then she walked toward the pool edge.

Anthony frowned.

He replayed the last few seconds.

Victoria was doing something near the water.

Something nobody had mentioned in the event notices.

He started toward the patio.

Then a scream echoed through the house.

And the situation changed from an unauthorized party into a possible medical emergency.

When Anthony reached the patio, his first instinct was to help.

Victoria was standing waist-deep in the pool, rubbing her arms so frantically that the skin appeared increasingly irritated. Two guests had already climbed out and were trying to rinse themselves with clean water from their bottles. Another woman was crying because her neck and shoulders felt unbearably itchy.

Anthony looked around.

Nobody appeared to be struggling underwater.

That was a relief.

But several people were clearly distressed.

He instructed everyone to leave the pool and move away from the water. He asked whether anyone was having difficulty breathing, feeling faint, or experiencing other serious symptoms.

One guest said her throat felt uncomfortable.

Anthony immediately requested emergency medical assistance.

Victoria heard him speaking to the dispatcher.

She climbed from the pool, water dripping from her pink swimsuit, and began shouting.

"Tell them what you did!"

Anthony turned.

"What?"

"You poisoned the pool!"

He stared.

"Victoria, I haven't added anything today."

She laughed angrily.

"Then why does everybody have these marks?"

He looked toward her arms.

The reddish patches were visible across her shoulders and upper chest.

Anthony felt genuine concern.

But he also knew that a medical professional, not an angry argument, needed to determine what caused the symptoms.

"I don't know yet. That's why I'm asking for medical help."

Victoria pointed toward him.

"You were angry because we came here!"

Anthony took a breath.
