Tall.

Platinum-blonde hair shaped into a perfect twist.

Cream tweed suit unmistakably expensive even without visible branding.

Structured handbag.

Diamond earrings.

Gold watch.

Shoes designed for entrances rather than walking.

She carried wealth not simply as possession but as social instruction.

People moved.

The cabin attendant greeted her.

“Welcome back.”

The wealthy woman barely looked at her.

“My assistant was told 3A.”

The attendant checked.

“Your assigned seat is 3B, ma’am.”

The wealthy woman stopped.

“No.”

The attendant looked at the boarding pass.

“It shows 3B.”

“I requested the window.”

“I’m sorry. The window was already assigned.”

The wealthy woman looked toward 3A.

Saw the Black mother.

Then the baby.

Something changed.

Not confusion.

Offense.

As though a clerical error had become visible.

“That cannot be right.”

The attendant remained polite.

“I can check once boarding finishes, but at the moment 3A is occupied.”

The wealthy woman looked directly at the mother.

“You’re in my seat.”

The executive looked up.

“No.”

The wealthy woman blinked.

The answer had been too simple.

“I booked the window.”

The mother lifted her boarding pass.

“So did I.”

The wealthy woman stared at the paper without taking it.

Then at the baby.

“You’re traveling with an infant.”

“Yes.”

“Then an aisle seat would be easier for you.”

The executive smiled faintly.

“For whom?”

The wealthy woman frowned.

“For you.”

“I’m comfortable here.”

A passenger across the aisle looked down at his phone, clearly listening.

The flight attendant stepped closer.

“Ma’am, I can help you settle into 3B.”

The wealthy woman ignored her.

She addressed the mother again.

“I prefer the window.”

“I gathered.”

“I’m asking you to switch.”

“And I’m declining.”

The wealthy woman stared.

The baby reached for her mother's earring.

The executive gently redirected her hand toward the stuffed rabbit.

The normalness of the movement seemed to irritate the woman further.

“You do understand that the seats are identical?”

“Yes.”

“Then there is no reason you cannot move.”

The executive looked at her.

“There is also no reason I should.”

The wealthy woman's lips tightened.

The attendant intervened.

“Ma’am, please allow other passengers to board.”

Only then did the woman move.

She sat in 3B with visible displeasure.

The aisle continued filling.

The mother returned attention to her daughter.

She assumed the matter was over.

That was her first mistake.

Not a serious mistake.

Just an optimistic one.

The wealthy woman spent the next five minutes making dissatisfaction visible.

She rearranged her handbag twice.

Called the attendant for sparkling water before boarding completed.

Asked whether the seat had been sanitized.

Complained that the cabin temperature was too high.
