Onto the lapel of his suit.

The blonde woman stood breathing hard.

Her husband stared at her.

Not horrified by what she had done.

Horrified because several phones had appeared.

The consultant in row five was recording.

So was the married passenger near the rear.

The senior attendant moved immediately.

“Ma’am!”

The CEO raised one hand.

“Please.”

Everyone stopped.

He took a white napkin from the table.

Wiped his eyes.

Then his face.

The coffee had soaked into the black fabric, less visually dramatic than it would have been against white, but the wet streaks still covered him.

The woman’s anger flickered.

For the first time, uncertainty appeared.

The CEO looked toward the junior attendant.

“Would you document what just happened?”

She stared.

“Sir?”

“Please document the incident exactly as you witnessed it.”

The blonde woman laughed nervously.

“Oh, stop.”

The CEO looked toward the senior attendant.

“And preserve any cabin recording available.”

The husband stepped forward.

“You don't give instructions to this crew.”

The CEO looked at him.

“Noted.”

The woman regained confidence.

“No one aboard has authority over me.”

The cockpit door opened.

The senior captain stepped out.

He took in the scene.

Coffee.

Wet suit.

Empty cup.

Phones.

The blonde woman.

Her husband.

Then the Black CEO.

The captain’s face hardened.

He walked down the aisle.

The woman pointed toward the CEO.

“Captain, finally.”

“He has been provoking me since I boarded.”

The captain ignored her.

He stopped beside the Black man.

Then addressed him with formal respect.

“Sir.”

The cabin became still.

The husband frowned.

The captain continued:

“Would you like me to hold the aircraft while corporate security removes the passenger?”

The blonde woman stared.

“What?”

The captain looked directly at the Black CEO.

“Or would you prefer the airport police handle the assault before departure?”

Nobody moved.

The CEO folded the coffee-soaked napkin carefully.

Then placed it on the table.

The husband finally noticed the black folder.

The embossed acquisition seal.

His face changed.

The captain added:

“Either way, we'll follow your instruction as the new controlling owner.”

Silence.

Not ordinary silence.

The kind that seemed to change air pressure.

The blonde woman slowly turned toward the man she had spent twenty minutes ordering from his seat.

Her face drained.

Her husband's mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

The consultant lowered his phone slightly.

The junior attendant covered her mouth.
