The low supercar rolled past the neighborhood clubhouse, its black spoiler rising above the rear bodywork.

Brett immediately pulled out his phone.

He began recording.

"Yo, look at that! Somebody in here owns a Diablo!"

He followed the car in his own vehicle at a safe distance until Caleb turned into his driveway.

Then Brett pulled over.

He watched Caleb park.

The Lamborghini's distinctive upward-opening door rose as the owner stepped out.

Brett grinned.

He'd finally found the vehicle he wanted for his channel.

Their first conversation was pleasant.

Brett approached the driveway holding his phone and asked whether he could take a few photographs.

Caleb recognized his interest.

He'd been nineteen once.

He remembered how excited he felt around exotic cars, and he didn't see anything wrong with helping someone learn.

"From the sidewalk is fine," Caleb said. "Just don't touch the paint."

Brett laughed.

"Of course, man."

He took several photographs.

Then asked what year the Lamborghini was.

Caleb explained that it was a late-1990s Diablo restored with careful attention to its original design and mechanical condition.

Brett walked around the front, studying the low body and bright-yellow finish.

"How much did you pay?"

Caleb smiled faintly.

"That's not something I usually discuss."

Brett looked toward the house.

"Come on. You rich or something?"

Caleb's smile faded slightly.

"I work for a living."

The younger man laughed as though he'd been told a joke.

Then asked whether he could sit in the driver's seat.

Caleb considered the request.

Ordinarily, he'd have declined.

But Brett appeared genuinely fascinated by the vehicle.

So Caleb opened the door and allowed him to look inside while remaining beside him.

The young man photographed the dashboard and steering wheel.

Then looked over his shoulder.

"Can I start it?"

"Not today."

"Just once?"

Caleb shook his head.

Brett's expression changed.

For a moment, he appeared irritated.

Then he smiled again.

"All right. What about taking it around the block?"

"No."

"With you in the passenger seat?"

"Still no."

Brett climbed out.

He tried to hide his disappointment.

But Caleb could see it.

Before leaving, the young man asked whether Caleb would consider allowing the car to appear in a promotional video.

Caleb said he might discuss a supervised display at a properly organized automotive event.

Brett grinned.

"That's basically a yes."

Caleb shook his head.

"No. That's a possibility we can discuss."

Brett laughed.
